SUBJECT:           VEHICLE ROLLS IN WATER:  Badger Road

 

For Immediate Release:            North Pole, Alaska.

About 9:00 PM the North Star VFD was dispatched to a MVC rollover near Badger Gas. The dispatch reported a vehicle had rolled into the slough near Badger Gas. When fire fighters arrived they found a small late model Dodge pick up in the slough. It appeared the pick up had been traveling west on Badger Road left the road and flipped into the 30 mile slough near Badger & Peede Road. .   

The vehicle was found up side down in open water. By standers reported the occupant had been trapped in the vehicle. By standers who stopped were able to break the driver's window and help the occupant out prior to the arrival of fire fighters. The information provided by the driver indicated there were possibility two additional people in the vehicle. Fire fighters in water / ice rescue suites entered the water and checked the vehicle and surrounding area. No other occupants were found. The people the occupant was referring to were later found safe and were not involved in the crash. Patient was checked transported to FMH by North Pole Ambulance. A check of the area revealed the vehicle appeared to have left the road about 50 yards from where it was found. The crash had broken off several trees along the slough banks before entering the water.
