STRUCTURE FIRE - 1431 Old Richardson Highway

On Friday evening, November 7, 2008, at approximately 8:51 p.m., the North Star Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at a well known North Pole landmark, Lee's Sauna and Massage Parlor, located at 1431 Old Richardson Highway.

Golden Heart Awards recognize local North Star Volunteers 

The winners of the group division — the North Star Volunteer Fire Department — receive no monetary compensation for the work.

“Their reward is service,” said NSVFD Fire Chief Jeff Tucker.

“In today’s age to have people give so much by volunteering, is pretty special,” Tucker added.

STRUCTURE FIRE – 2630 Silver Street

North Pole, Alaska: an attack led by Lt. McConnel, NSVFD. Suggested narrative: “On the evening of Tuesday, July 8, 2008, live fire training for Class B (Liquid Fuel) Fires was conducted at Flint Hills Resources’ North Pole Refinery. The North Star Volunteer Fire Department and North Pole Fire Department combined their personnel to train with the Flint Hills Resources North Pole Refinery Fire Brigade. In this series of photos, NSVFD’s Lt. McConnel is the team leader and he brings his teams together for a coordinated attack on a fire involving a high pressure petroleum products distribution manifold.”
